In partnership with the Detroit Public School system and Michigan Association of Public School Academies, Legacy Associates Foundation advances programming designed to challenge students in accessing and applying technical and educational resources available to them in the 21st century. Comprehensive and innovative interactive learning sessions focus on areas of business innovation and entrepreneurship (past-to-present), business management, reading, mathematics, cognitive learning, critical analysis, professional interaction skills and more. Through a combination of structured curriculum-based activities and relevant-to-life applications, we offer and deliver the competitive skills necessary for youth to succeed in a diverse, globalized culture. Marketing and management techniques provide our youth with imperative personal and professional development and a strong basis for entrepreneurial success. Nurturing and empowering the entrepreneurial spirit educates youth by instilling the value of being an investor before a consumer. Simultaneously, this instruction demonstrates the importance of leveraging their financial intelligence and resources for the ultimate understanding and preparation for generational wealth. Through community service, our programs seek to unite young adults with surrounding neighborhoods, friends and volunteer organizations. We communicate a responsibility in giving back and educate our students about the value of contribution and the importance of community. This cohesive relationship is a mutually beneficial, life-long bond that encourages a broadening in perspective and assists in establishing a sense of belonging with personal security. In addition to these comprehensive programs and services, we provide financial assistance to high school graduates who continue their education at an accredited institution of higher learning. To date, over seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) in scholarships have been provided to Detroit youth in order to assist in their educational aspirations. In conjunction with these awards, Legacy Associates Foundation maintains an ongoing system of support and mentorship during their college tenure and even thereafter. Those who participate with our organization often return for future service in our programs, continuing in our work and reinforcing the founding ideals to younger men and women. Of all the embodied Legacy Associates Foundation ideals, the most important is that “we seek not merely to inspire and inform, but to enable and empower“. |
